evaluate and improve the application of inelastic analysis procedures for use with performance-based engineering methods for seismic design, evaluation, and rehabilitation of buildings. The project will culminate with the publication of FEMA 440: Improvement of Nonlinear Static Seismic Analysis Procedures. This paper provides a preview of the key conclusions of the work. The focus is on anticipated recommendations to improve inelastic analysis procedures as currently documented in FEMA 356 [1] and ATC 40 [2].
