Abstract. Our experience on teaching Physics at the 1st course of the Physics career at Murcia University, using computers to build simulations, is presented. This is carried out in a 60 hours practical Computer Laboratory course, in parallel with the General Physics course, both along a full 1st academic year in the Physics career. In the Computer Laboratory our students develop a systematic series of physics models covering different topics dealt with in the General Physics course. At the same time, the basics of building models with a computer is introduced along with the necessary numerical techniques involved.
