Not only biological conditions and medical services but also gender, income, social support arrangements, education, employment, working conditions, culture have important influence on health status. Still another determinant of health status is gender blindness in carrying out research studies on health. Gender sensitive ap-proach is needed to get unbiased knowledge. This helps to attain equity in health in the long run by implementing appropriate measures. In this study, the position of women regarding inequalities in access to health services is conceptualised.
