Engineering, Environment and Sustainable Development- Challenges and Projects from ISEL

In this paper we‟ll discuss the challenges engineering education faces in order to face the problem of sustainability. 1. We‟ll start by a theoretical discussion on sustainability and the need for interdisciplinary approaches to understand and handle the environmental disruptions our world is facing. 2. What might engineering do for environment? What is ISEL actually doing? We‟ll show several examples collected from different disciplines of ISEL‟s courses which represent an effort in order to integrate the environmental and sustainability quests in its approaches. 3.
