The market for “solar power”, i.e. photovoltaic power generation in this paper, is a strong growing market in many global areas. There is no worldwide standard for PV (Photovoltaic) cables yet and the available norms and tests will be subject to adjustment. Some more challenges are monitored at present to determine possible test procedures, e.g. life cycle testing. Special attention has to be paid to certain areas, which are not very much evaluated until today, such as the long-term behaviour of cables that are exposed to strong UV. Other issues are procedures that were not considered necessary, e.g. the cleaning of solar modules with detergents
