An intuitive and user-friendly notation based on a diagrammatical way to visualize and manipulate N-mode array equations is proposed. The diagrams have the appearance of graphs and make some manipulations of equations involving higher-mode arrays easier. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
