This paper proposes a routing metric known as Weighted Cumulative Expected Transmission Time with Load Balancing (WCETT-LB) for wireless mesh net-works. WCETTT-LB enhances the basic Weighted Cu-mulative Expected Transmission Time (WCETT) by in-corporating load balancing into the routing metric. Un-like other existing schemes proposed for load balanc-ing for wireless mesh networks, WCETT-LB implements load balancing at mesh routers. WCETT-LB provides a congestion aware routing and traffic splitting mecha-nism to achieve global load balancing in the network. The preliminary qualitative and quantitative analyses show the significance of the proposed scheme.
