Within an educational system some kind of mechanism is required to assess students ’ progress while acquiring knowledge. This paper discusses about student’s assessment in a concrete learning environment: Hezinet, an Adaptive Hypermedia System for the Basque language e-learning that has been already installed in more than 50 Spanish and 14 South American adult Basque-schools. The evaluation process, which is based on the Item Response Theory, will be arranged automatically and on-demand by a dynamic and adaptive construction of tests.
