The study of the outcropping glacial sediments of Stolzenhagen combines detailed sedimentological analyses with modern radiometric dating techniques based on Optical Stimulated Luminescence (OSL). This allows not only to interpret the processes of sediment accumulation and erosion but also to discuss the timing of these processes in a wider stratigraphic context. In result, a model of local landscape evolution and the controlling environmental and climatic triggers for the last 150 kyrs has been developed.
