CORRELATION BETWEEN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGE OF THE TOOTH GERM AND ROOT COMPLEMENTATION IN AUTOTRANSPLANTED TEETH: CLINICAL AND RADIOGRAPHIC 10-YEARS FOLLOW-UP

The aim of the present study was to carry out a clinical and radiographic follow-up of the teeth subjected to autogenous transplants on the last 10 years, by verifying the correlation between the tooth development stage and its root complementation. Firstly, a survey of the records of Transplant Project was carried in patients attended by the multidisciplinary team of the Health Science Center of the UFES. Then early cataloged radiographies were selected and contact with patientts was made in order to carry out the therapeutic follow-up of the autotransplanted teeth by clinical and radiographic examinations. The parameter used for estimating and assessing the root formation was the classification proposed by Nolla. The tooth radiographic image was compared to Nolla’s scheme, which scores each tooth a representative value, by correlating the root development stage on initial and final radiographies and also by comparing them with each other, in order to verify the root development obtained. The data was transferred to a reference card that is used for assessing and clustering the stages measured. The results showed that there was a lower root growth for transplanted teeth, which corresponded to 06 and 07 Nolla ’ stages. The 08 Nolla’s stage was the one that showed a higher relation in the transplanted tooth root growth, when compared to its counterpart. In most transplanted teeth there have been dystrophic changes inside the pulp cavity, and the highest period of follow-up, the highest is the obliteration of the cavity. In cases of transplanted teeth at 10 Nolla’s stage, it was found the need for endodontic treatment.
