Learning goals This course is based on a complete revision of the essential grammatical and lexical structures of the English language. These structures are studied in context in a variety of situations of communication. The purpose of the course is to allow students to communicate in everyday situations. By the end of the course, students should have the minimum “survival ” level as defined by the Council of Europe. Learning objectives The objective of this course is for students to be able to communicate in English. Students should be able to give personal information, ask others for information, make comparisons, hypotheses and generally be able to adapt their discourse to various situations. Students should also be able to write letters and short texts. Students should be able to master the essential vocabulary of the English language, to handle elementary structures and engage in rudimentary discussions. Expectations You should expect a high degree of interaction. A language is a living means of communication and I expect constant participation. You will have homework each week as the only way to progress in a language is to constantly practice. A class period is divided roughly into 4 stages
