In the last 20 years, both health care providers and researchers have agreed that the efficacy of treatment intervention should be evaluated by its impact on both length of survival and health-related quality of life (QOL) [1, 2]. Although people have been measuring QOL for many years, we still face the difficulty of not having a consensus definition and measurement of QOL suitable for different diseases and cultures [3–5]. As a result, the World Health Organization (WHO) initiated the cross-cultural project to develop the long form of the WHOQOL questionnaire (WHOQOL-100) for generic use in 1991 and finished the field tests in 1995 [6–13].
