Subject doubling in Dutch dialects

This paper deals with pronominal subject doubling in three dialects of Dutch. We make a distinction between two types of doubling: clitic doubling and topic doubling. The former only occurs in subclauses and inverted main clauses, whereas the second is restricted to subject-initial main clauses. A clitic doubled subject consists of a clitic and a strong pronoun. We take them to be merged as one DP. A topic doubled subject on the other hand always involves a non-clitic pronoun doubled by a strong pronoun.
