Abstract: Bluetooth is a promising wireless technology which allowed electronic devices to be instantly intercon-nected into short-range ad hoc networks. This paper presents a “proof of concept ” experiment relative to the use of the Bluetooth wireless technology to provide net-work support for context-aware applications. We develop a context-aware guide for a museum using Bluetooth as a defacto radio interface. We describe the steps taken to cre-ate a Bluetooth based context-aware application. Finally we evaluate using a small test-bed the overall performance of this technology when adopted in this specific area. 1
