Online Access to Protein Interaction Data reported in: Large-scale mapping of human protein-protein

In 2001, MDS Proteomics experimentally generated a large protein-protein interaction (PPI) dataset. A team of researchers from the University of Toronto, University of Ottawa and MDS Proteomics analyzed this dataset and through computational analysis reduced the set to approximately 6500 interactions. This dataset has been made available to the public domain as supplementary information to the Ewing et al publication. It ranks as one of the largest experimentally determined PPI datasets published to date, and its significance to the biomedical research community is rated very high. This paper describes the design and implementation of the database which has been created to host the Ewing et al dataset, and the web application which will provide online access for researchers in functional genomics and proteomics to perform queries and explore the dataset. In effort to adhere to the data standards which have been developed for PPI systems, the application also provides the functionality to export the result set in the Protein Standard
