Abstract. In the paper some of the problems accompanying transition from the classical power sources towards renewables as well as some of the publicly widely accepted persuasions of questionable credibility are being discussed. It is shown that the footprint of the so called green power sources is much larger compared to classical technologies and that the overhasty development of technologies aiming at energy dependence reduction may lead to an even higher energy dependence. The example of the "eco-land", Denmark, is presented and substituting oil with ethanol made of cellulose as well as nonsense of the CCS technology and CO2 emission taxes are discussed.
