This paper intends to provide an overview of the Radio Resource Management (RRM) problem and envisaged solutions in a Beyond 3G framework. The different functions related to the Common RRM, encompassing the responsibility to optimize the pool of available radio resources among a variety of Radio Access Technologies (RATs), are identified and the different degrees of interactions that can be envisaged among CRRM entity and the RRM entities at an individual RAT level are also detailed.
