The Airborne Emissive Reflective Spectrometer (ARES) is a VIS – NIR – SWIR – TIR hyperspectral sensor. The nominal specifications are as follows: wavelength range 470 – 2420 nm (solar) and 8.1 – 12.1 µm (TIR); spectral resolution 15 nm (solar) and 120 nm (TIR); field of view 65º; instantaneous field of view 2 milliradian. ARES will have exceptionally high sensitivity, similar to the HyMap ™ sensor in the solar range, and unprecedented NEDT for a whisk-broom sensor in the TIR range.
