A conceptual model of multiple dimensions of identity depicts a core sense of self or one’s personal identity. Intersecting circles sur-rounding the core identity represent significant identity dimensions (e.g., race, sexual orienta-tion, and religion) and contextual influences (e.g., family background and life experiences). The model evolved from a grounded theory study of a group of 10 women college students ranging in age from 20-24 and of diverse racial-ethnic backgrounds.
