The field of smart structures includes a large number of engineering disciplines. A clear understanding of the concepts of smart structures depends on depth knowledge of mechanics of materials, structural analysis, sensors and actuators (which are very important tools in engineering) and control theory. So the field of smart structures is a multidisciplinary research filed. This paper contains a brief review on the filed of smart structures considering smart materials, as the main part of structure. In addition some problems of petroleum structures are briefly discussed. Also an efficient discussion about control and modeling concepts is presented. Keywords
