Abstract. Developing for mobile devices such as cellphones and smart-phones has become a significant part of the software industry. And it seems, that there are as many different software platforms as there are different devices. This paper will introduce and compare the most im-portant platforms that are out there at the moment. Security issues such as protecting from malware, spyware or viruses will be discussed and remote manipulation will be introduced.
