ABSTRACT: This paper is based on the findings of a literature review on the field of World Wide Web. A list of some key publications and explicitly provided literature is briefly included in this paper; addressing the importance of the field of Semantic Web and describing its contributions as the mechanism for structuring the information over the web in a format so that machines can understand the semantic context. Highlighting the technological innovation of Semantic Web, this paper presents Ontology some domain specific languages for Ontology construction: eXtensible Mark-up Language, Resource Description Framework and Web Ontology Language; offering different ways of explicitly structuring and richly annotating Web pages.
