The advent of Cloud computing platforms, and the growing pervasiveness of Multicore processor architectures have re-vealed the inadequateness of traditional programming mod-els based on sequential computations, opening up many chal-lenges for research on parallel programming models for build-ing distributed, service-oriented systems.
