A mathematical approach to the terminal behaviour description of analogue subsystems is presented. The formulation which can be widely used is a possible base of the model imple-mentation by the help of behavioural languages. It enables the user to develop behavioural models independently of special languages and supports him in offering a modelling method. The mathematical formulation gives also important criteria to evaluate new language con-cepts. Examples are given using the HDL-A language.
