In general, agricultural tractors do not have chassis suspension. Therefore, the tractor operator is severely subjected to shock and vibration from the off-road. Magnetorhelogical (MR) dampers are one of the most promising new devices for dynamic vibration reduction and semi-active suspension systems. In the present study, a MR damper that provides controllable damping force has been designed, fabricated and tested. The preliminary results showed that the proposed MR damper could be effectively employed for semi-active vibration control of a tractor seat
